Larry Galicinao, 35, was arrested by San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office deputies after they were called to reports of an arson attack which occurred in the 1100 block of Annabelle Lane in Stockton on Saturday, August 15.

According to police, Galicinao has had a long-running feud with his neighbors over a parking issue.

“On this particular day, Larry Galicinao decided that the best way to resolve their problems was to run into his neighbor’s apartment with a flaming gas can and douse the residents and the apartment with it,” a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said.

Both the husband and wife suffered burns on 85 percent of their bodies as a result of the attack. They are currently in a nearby burn center, where they remain in a critical condition.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office originally reported that the father was able to run back into the burning building and rescue his 5-year-old daughter, who happened to be in the shower at the time of the incident.

CBS 13 reported that multiple neighbors say it was a neighbor who ran back in to save the girl. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for clarification.

The girl is with her family while her parents are hospitalized.

Galicinao also ended up with burns on 65 percent of his body after allegedly causing the fire at the apartment.

One witness described hearing the screams from the wife as “the most horrific thing I have ever heard.”

“I don’t know what possesses somebody to do that,” the witness, who did not wish to be named, told CBS 13. “The smell was horrific to see the lady burning, to see her innards, I will never forget it.

“I don’t care what your excuse was, where is your humanity? There is just none. It’s just disturbing to have somebody like that on our block.”

One neighbor the suspect and the husband had been arguing for months and this was not the first time the dispute resulted in violence.

“My family is scared, my neighbors are scared, it’s just now you can’t really sleep at night, wondering is somebody is going to run in your house and douse you with gasoline,” the neighbor said.
