The multiplayer aspect of the game has wormed its way into the biggest focus of the series, and that multiplayer has gone through numerous tweaks and revisions. Modes that were popular in one iteration of the game disappear in the next, only to return in a later game in a different way. Such is the case for the mega popular Gun Game, as it prepares to make its return in Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Originally debuting as a Wager Match game mode in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, Gun Game would go on to become a standalone game mode, a smaller game mode, and a dedicated playlist. No matter what form it took, Gun Game has persevered as one of the most popular multiplayer modes in the Call of Duty series. For fans worried that Gun Game might disappear from Call of Duty: Black Ops III, worry not. With Black Ops III polling as one of the most anticipated games of 2015, developer Treyarch is making sure fans can walk away satisfied.

David Vonderhaar, the Game Design Director at Black Ops III’s developers Treyarch, recently conducted a sit down interview with EBGames Australia. During this interview, it was asked whether the popular One Shot mode playlist would return in Black Ops III. While Venderhaar confirmed that One Shot will not be featured in Black Ops III, he did state that the title will feature a custom multiplayer game set, opening the door for Gun Game and, down the line, One Shot, saying:

While the inclusion of Gun Game is sure to excite fans, the news of One Shot’s exclusion may prove disheartening. But Vonderhaar was quick to stress that fans of the mode shouldn’t give up hope just yet, stating:

With Call of Duty: Black Ops III under a month away from release, fans are practically chomping at the bit to get their hands on Fall 2015’s most anticipated game. With Treyarch promising a revitalized zombie series and a storyline that will shock players to their core, here’s hoping that the title can live up to all the hype.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 releases November 6, 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
