As seen in the trailers below for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s three different Zombies experiences, Activision and Treyarch has entitled one as “IX”, another “Voyage of Despair,” and the third “Blood of the Dead.” The first appears to be quite the different take on previous Zombies combat with there being an emphasis on medieval swords and shield fighting, with the second featuring a narrative revolving around how the walking dead ultimately led to the Titanic’s sinking, while the third sees the return of the original Zombies cast for a new chapter.
Considering the fact that Treyarch decided to take a risk with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s IX Zombies experience by seemingly eschewing gunplay altogether, it’s good to see that the developer has balanced out its lack of firearms with Voyage of Despair and Blood of the Dead. After all, with the latter two set to give fans the classic gameplay they crave, perhaps players will be able to better appreciate IX’s fresh twist on the mode.
Taking all of this into account, there’s no doubt that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fans are hungry to sink their teeth into all of the first-person shooter’s Zombies action, but it will be a long wait until the game launches in the fall of this year. Of course, Activision and Treyarch have promised that those who pre-order a copy of Black Ops 4 will be privy to access of its Private Beta, but it has yet to be confirmed if Zombies will be included in the mix, nor when the testing period will even come about. Hopefully, we will learn more in days leading up to, through, and after E3 2018.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch on October 12, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
