With a game like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the meta is constantly cycling. Players always seek out the best loadouts, gear, and overall builds in hopes of dominating the battlefield. Although there are some pieces of equipment that are better than others, fans should always pick gear they are comfortable with when entering any competitive experience.

The current Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War meta revolves around the MP5 submachine gun, Field Mic Field Upgrade, and a secondary weapon. In this build, the Lethal and Tacticals tend to be up to player preference but trends are showing that one particular build is favored over other options. The majority of players running meta gear seem to be factoring the Stimshot and Semtex Grenade over the other tactical and lethal options. Why the meta has leaned this way is unknown, but those two items do hold a certain advantage that the others don’t.
Starting with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War loadout preference for Stimshot, the small vial contains a very valuable combat option. Rather than simply waiting for health to regenerate, a player can trigger the Stimshot and instead instantly regenerate their lost health. In a combat situation, this can become extremely useful, as enemies will often hunt down unconfirmed kills.
The varying grenades in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s armory simply do not offer the same level of versatility. Stun, Smoke, and Flashbangs are great for breaching, but can be easily countered or simply fail in several situations. The only downside to the Stimshot is that it can easily become a crutch to players who rely on it a little too much.
As for the lethal, the Semtex Grenade offers the same benefits as most explosives, but it can be stuck to enemies and objects. This allows players to attach it to sharp corners, ceilings, and really anywhere else they want it to land. This offers unique Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War options when it comes to blowing up enemy players.
