Activision has officially announced Nuketown ‘84, the latest iteration of what is easily one of the most popular Call of Duty maps to date. Nuketown ‘84 will likely be functionally identical to the other takes on Nuketown, but with some aesthetic differences. All that’s been shown of Black Ops Cold War’s Nuketown is a bus covered in graffiti and what appears to be sand, so maybe this new version of the map takes place on a beach or in a desert, though that’s just speculation at this time. More concrete information will likely come to light between now and when Nuketown comes to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on November 24.

The addition of Nuketown to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War just a couple of weeks after the game’s launch mirrors what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare did with Shoot House. For those that may not remember, Shoot House was added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare after launch but before the game’s first season of content, giving fans of the standard multiplayer a small map to play on.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Nuketown ‘84 will likely become one of the most popular multiplayer maps in the game. And as a result, it wouldn’t be surprising for Treyarch to feature Nuketown ‘84 regularly in its own dedicated playlist, as it has done in past games and like how Modern Warfare has done with Shipment. The downside to that, though, is that fans may become upset whenever Treyarch removes the dedicated Nuketown playlist from Black Ops Cold War’s standard multiplayer.

The next big update Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans will have to look forward to is Season 1’s debut on December 10. At that point, a slew of new content will be added to the game, including new multiplayer maps and modes, like the fan favorite 2v2 Gunfight from Modern Warfare. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 will also add new Zombies content, new weapons, new cosmetics, and it will officially kick off the game’s Warzone integration.

Speaking of Warzone, Treyarch has teased a “classified Warzone experience” coming with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1. What exactly that will entail remains to be seen, but more information should come to light as we get closer to December 10. In the meantime, fans can check out Nuketown on November 24.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
