Scorestreaks often come with an auto-target or thermal feature to aid in aiming at high altitudes. With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War operators being small from an aerial point of view, this is a vital feature used by many players. When one fan implemented this feature on his scorestreak, the thermal view did not end when the gunship departed.

In a clip by bryanhun64 on Reddit, the player is seen activating a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War scorestreak called Gunship. This allows him to fire down upon a battlefield and take out enemy troops quickly, but it does come with a limited timer. As the Gunship ends, the player triggers an additional streak with an unexpected result. Instantly, the entire screen turns black and white, and the player is able to gain the benefits of thermal vision without having a scope on their rifle. Enemies are seen in while silhouettes and the entire battlefield in grayscale.

The player comments that the glitch made killing through smoke an exceptionally easy experience. While the gunship still spawns above, the player has no control of it, leaving it to circle the map silently. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have reported a version of this bug before, but now it is seeming to be a more wide-spread issue.

This bug does cause the Gunship to go to waste, and some players report a similar problem regarding the Chopper Gunner killstreak. While the problem has only been reported on the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War map Nuketown, this does not mean that it can not appear in other areas of the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War bugs continue to appear across the various maps and game modes. The developers appear to be unaware of the bug, according to their Trello board, but that does not mean a fix is not possible. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War receives several patches every week which could repair this lingering issue.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
