In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, many players take advantage of aim assist to help them line up their shots. While mainly a console feature, aim assist makes the target easier to aim by causing the crosshairs to stick to the enemy. While it does not do all the aiming for a player, it can help even new players hit a target in a firefight.

One Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player noticed that the aim assist setting might be stronger than intended. In a clip posted to Reddit by Nathanchr55, the player is seen firing at multiple enemies. While everything looks rather standard, the important fact is in the title as the player claims to not even touch the right joystick during combat. While it is obvious that he is not referencing the first half of the clip, the second half holds an interesting interaction. Rather than aiming at the player, the aim assist instead drifts the crosshairs in front of a running enemy. The system is most likely predicting the movements of the enemy, but the issue is that it is doing so without any player input.

Players can instantly see a problem in the clip as the gun is adjusting faster than players can respond. This makes the gun predictive and borders on aim-bot accuracy. For Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans who pride themselves on being marksman, the system may be aiding a tad too much, giving console fans a distinct advantage.

In the comments, players are writing this off as yet another sign that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is “broken.” Many PC players are frustrated as they have had to practice all the “pro” moves, but console fans are able to just aim and shoot due to aim assist.

The developer has not commented on aim assist as of yet, leaving the option for it to be exactly as strong as intended. While it is not a bad thing to have Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s aim assist tuned to high, many players are more concerned that it could impact the balance of the game itself.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
