It’s more understandable for there to be issues in a beta, as development is still ongoing. One of the purposes of a beta is for players to find issues and report them to the developers so that they can be fixed before the game’s official release. And though this particular bug is pretty harmless compared to others, it’s one that definitively needs to be removed so that online matches can remain as fair as they possibly can.

The bug in question is described as a sliding exploit, allowing players to almost continuously slide and effectively zip around the map at high speed. A player can slide, jump out of the slide, and then immediately slide again upon landing with zero cooldown. It obviously doesn’t make someone better at the game or unstoppable, but it can certainly provide those who know the trick an advantage.

Slide-canceling, as it’s sometimes called, has been a problem in the Call of Duty series before, particularly in the Black Ops subseries. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 infamously had something called a g-slide, which functioned similarly but was eventually patched out. With more people becoming aware of it, including professional players, developer Treyarch is likely already aware of its existence and will most likely remove it by the time Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War officially releases.

Considering the beta is only in its second day and only available to PlayStation 4 owners who pre-ordered the game, Treyarch could even remove it sooner. The beta has already been updated with some new additions, such as a new multiplayer match type called VIP Escort, new weapons, and an increased level cap.

As for the official release, players can look forward to the Zombies mode making a return. It won’t be making an appearance as part of the beta, but it has been confirmed to support cross-play, even between the current and next gen consoles.

Meanwhile, Warzone players believe that an option for private Warzone matches will be added in the future, something that has been a highly demanded feature for a while.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
