Just like in past iterations of Zombies, the Mystery Box can be a great way to get quality weapons. For those that do not want to spend the time upgrading their gun, the Mystery Box is worth spending some points on. However. As is the case with any new map, learning the Box’s locations can take some time. This is especially true on Forsaken, as the map’s fragmented setup sees players needing to use teleporters and ziplines to get around.

Fortunately, Reddit user ZyDriiX has pointed out a map detail that some Call of Duty Zombies players may have missed out on. By the map’s many teleporters, maps can be seen, though many may not think anything of them. While the maps show the names of each location and gives players an idea of where the teleporters are going to take them, it also includes some rectangles. These rectangles are actually Mystery Box locations, giving gamers a clear idea of where the container full of guns can be found.
However, instead of just telling players the potential spawn points for the Mystery Box, the map also tells players where the box is currently at. Normally, the rectangles will be marked blue, but the one that is colored red is a clear indicator of the Mystery Box’s current location. As shown in a second image from ZyDriiX, the crate is exactly where the map says it will be. For players that do not want to search for the Mystery Box, checking these maps allows gamers to find it instantly.
This map works much like that of the one seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops’ Kino Der Toten. While the designs are certainly different, the concept of an in-game map that reveals the whereabouts of the Mystery Box is familiar. With a majority of Forsaken taking place inside a facility, the strategy of looking for the light in the sky is a lot less useful. As such, this was a smart touch on the part of Treyarch, and it should prove useful to new and old fans alike.
With Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Zombies mode made by Treyarch and serving as a prequel to the Dark Aether story, it will likely feature the Mystery Box in some way. As such, hopefully there will be an easy trick to help with tracking it down like there is in Forsaken.
