With most Zombies loadouts including a shotgun like the Gallo SA12 or Hauer 77, the game’s lack of viable weapons has been criticized. While there is an impressive number of guns to choose from, few are viable in the long-term, as shotguns offer the best killing potential by far. Dropping mini bosses and regular enemies with ease in high rounds, a clear Call of Duty Zombies meta has formed. Fortunately, Treyarch will be making some major adjustments in Season 3 Reloaded.

Instead of nerfing the shotgun class or balancing other guns via the addition of Double Tap, Treyarch has decided to simply buff all other weapons instead. Treyarch hyped up the massive patch notes via a few tweets, with the studio calling the notes the longest it has ever shared. A brief video of the changes was also shown, with Treyarch giving fans an idea of just how many guns are being adjusted. In short, fans can expect every weapon from every class besides shotguns to get a buff. Shotguns will remain mostly unaffected, with only tiny buffs to damage.

As for what exactly is being changed in the Season 3 Reloaded update, every weapon is being given a major damage buff. As detailed by Treyarch, most guns are seeing their headshot multipliers raised significantly. With the average buff being an increase from a 2.8x multiplier to a 4.5x multiplier, fans should notice the change instantly. Provided that players can land their critical shots, every single Zombies weapon should finally be viable, something that fans have been hoping to see for some time now.

Treyarch also mentions that certain guns will get further buffs once they are Pack-A-Punched. Special weapons are getting significantly larger stock ammo pools, with the Crossbow and all launchers benefitting from the change. The LW3 Tundra Sniper Rifle received a nerf to its base damage, while the Swiss K31 saw its damage output boosted. LMGs saw a similar mix of damage changes, though both classes will still benefit from the headshot multiplier changes. All Assault Rifles and SMGs were given extra buffs to their base damage, instantly making them viable.

Lastly, the Ray Gun was given less stock ammo pre-Pack and more post-Pack, making an upgrade essential. With Outbreak’s first main quest arriving in the Season 3 Reloaded Update, these weapon changes come at a perfect time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
