Treyarch’s latest entry in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series is being generally well-received since its November 13 launch, despite some criticism regarding limited content. There has already been a leak about new Zombies perks coming soon, but the original developers of the popular mode have another leak on their hands.

Earlier this year, leaks for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode revealed that the game would launch with Die Maschine and a Vietnam-based map called Firebase Z. The latter map isn’t currently in the game, so it’s likely the map has been saved as post-launch content. A document found within the game files further teases a Vietnam setting.

This Russian intelligence report suggests players will be heading to the Khe Sanh region in Vietnam. Furthermore, the screens Weaver looks at in Zombies’ intro cutscene points to several distinct locations. These include Berlin, Russia, and Vietnam. Series veterans may recall visiting the Khe Sanh Combat Base (a real-world location) in the original Black Ops campaign.

There is more in-game evidence supporting the theory of the next map’s Vietnam location. During the Black Ops Cold War campaign mission “Operation Fractured Jaw,” players see another real-world location in Firebase Ripcord, although only from the air. However, one player who managed to glitch into the area discovered a Zombies Easter egg.

The sign for the Doctors Quarters uses the same model as Richtofen’s Quarters from Shi No Numa. This could mean Firebase Z consists of both Khe Sanh and Firebase Ripcord, possibly connected by Aether portals. Unfortunately, players will most likely have to wait until next year for a new Zombies map. Despite Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1’s upcoming release, only “New Modes” are teased rather than maps. Popular leaker and Viral Junkie CEO Tom Henderson doesn’t believe there will be a new Zombies map until at least February 2021.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies appears to finally be on the upswing. After a buggy launch, the November 21 update fixed many Zombies issues in Die Maschine as well as Dead Ops Arcade 3. Players will want to keep an eye on what changes the approaching Season 1 will bring.

While the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies community hopes for more DLC sooner than later, it is looking like it might take a while. In the meantime, players can always discover more of Die Maschine’s secrets, like a reference to the coffin dance meme.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
