Some Call of Duty: Black Ops players have struggled to stay connected to the game’s servers, often being kicked after searching for a multiplayer match for just a few minutes. It doesn’t appear as though everyone is running into this problem, but enough players have reported the issue online that it’s safe to say it is fairly widespread.

Activision and Treyarch, who are likely more concerned with the more recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and the upcoming Call of Duty: WW2, have yet to comment on the issue or make it known if a fix is on the way. In the meantime, some fans have taken this as a sign that Activision is winding down support for this particular legacy Call of Duty game.

While this is a possibility, the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops remains active makes this unlikely. After all, the game remains one of the most popular titles in the Call of Duty lineup, and it seems odd for Activision to bring it to the Xbox One backward compatibility service only to shut down its servers just a little over a year later.

Then again, Activision could be preparing to re-release Call of Duty: Black Ops for modern consoles with improved graphics like it did with Call of Duty 4. It’s no secret that Activision wants to make more remasters, and since Black Ops remains one of the most popular Call of Duty games, it makes sense for the company to remaster it at some point in the future.

Whatever the case may be, hopefully Activision or Treyarch comments on the matter soon so dedicated fans have an idea of when to expect the servers to become stable once again.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is available now for Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
