Activision was quick to acknowledge the problems on its Twitter account, informing players it’s investigating the situation. Since then, it seems many of the gamers who were unable to access the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta are now able to, but new issues have cropped up in the meantime. Now it looks like some players are encountering a problem where the game thinks the beta isn’t currently active.

As expected, Activision is now investigating this second issue and is actively working on a fix. Hopefully the publisher will be able to determine the problem and offer a solution soon so gamers can play the beta.

This isn’t the first time a highly anticipated title beta has experienced issues. In fact, it’s for this very reason that many developers implement these beta tests ahead of game launches, especially when there are multiplayer features in the game. Granted, the beta is a great marketing tool to invite gamers to try a title and maybe even fall in love with it, thus driving them to pre-order, but it’s also an important step in testing servers and gameplay mechanics.

This weekend’s Infinite Warfare beta is the first of two betas scheduled for the game and is currently only available on PlayStation 4. This one started yesterday and is set to run through Monday morning. However, with the current issues plaguing the beta now in the second day, it’s likely Activision will extend the beta to give gamers a chance to play the game, especially if they’ve been experiencing the issues previously stated. This wouldn’t be the first time a game beta encountered issues, and often when it’s happened in the past, developers have been anxious to extend the beta.

We’re now only a few weeks away from the launch of Infinite Warfare, so it’s crucial that Activision figure out these problems and correct them immediately. Next weekend the developer will be running a second beta, this time with Xbox One joining in the fun alongside PlayStation 4. Hopefully whatever issues the beta is experiencing now will be fixed before the second beta next week. Activision has provided no timeline yet for when the issues should be corrected.
