RELATED: The Biggest Changes Coming to Call of Duty: Warzone 2

That’s why Infinity Ward decided to revamp the entire movement and perk system for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. But IW made a major overhaul to the old Gunsmith, making it more accessible to level weapons and gain new attachments. And even though some guns aren’t available in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta, some players have managed to recreate the iconic (and overpowered) MP5 from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

First Step: Equip the Right Loadout

Infinity Ward didn’t expect players to discover the MP5 (referred to as the Lachmann Sub in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), so players must follow a set of steps to use it. Players will first need to create a new Loadout by navigating the “Create a Loadout” menu and pressing the + located at the bottom left side of the menu.

Players can then select any Default Loadouts, but they’ll need to select as Primary Weapon the Expedite 12 Shotgun (located under the Shotgun tab). From that point, players should modify the Default Perks from the Loadout and change it to the Deadeye Perk Package since it has Overkill (allows players to equip two Primary Weapons).

Following these steps, the Secondary Weapon should automatically change to the Lachmann-556 Assualt Rifle. This is the only way players can use the Lachmann-556, as it’s Locked by default. But, before players can unlock the MP5 (Lachmann Sub), they’ll need to level the Lachmann-556 to level 20 by getting kills or capturing/holding objectives while using the gun.

Turning the Lachmann Sub into an MP5

Once players max out the Lachmann-556, they can head over to Create a Loadout menu and create a new loadout (it doesn’t matter which default loadout players choose). Players can now select the Lachmann Sub as their Primary Weapon by navigating to the Submachine Gun tab and selecting Lachmann Sub.

From this point on, players now have access to the “MP5” and can customize it to their liking. But, since the new Gunsmith UI can be tricky to use, we’ve prepared a Lachmann Sub setup (see picture above) that best replicates Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare MP5. Players can also change the Hollow Point Bullets for a larger Magazine Size if they find they’re running out of bullets too often.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
