The developers of Modern Warfare 2 disabled the attachment tuning feature only a day after the initial release. The company said it was crashing some people’s games and had to investigate the issue further before bringing the feature back online. Now, the research has been done and fixes issued. In a Twitter post, Infinity Ward says that it will be producing a blog post about the issue and the feature later today.

Modern Warfare 2 has had its fair share of problems with the launch. While Infinity Ward has issued some smaller patches for exploits and such, this seems to be the first big update since the launch that is addressing major features. Bringing back one of the major features of Modern Warfare 2’s new Gunsmith 2.0 is only one of the changes.

Gun tuning is a feature introduced in Modern Warfare 2 and allows players to fine-tune the attachment on the weapon. First, this requires grinding the progression of the weapon to the maximum level after which the feature is unlocked. With the feature players can change how the weapon behaves in terms of recoil stability, aiming stability, accuracy, etc. Tuning one of the gun’s aspects will affect the others, so it’s a game of compromise.

While the game might have had its issues after the launch, players have been swarming to play it. Modern Warfare 2 has broken Call of Duty records on its the opening weekend, and if it continues with its popularity it will likely dethrone its predecessor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in sales.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
