The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to anime and manga as last seen with Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Attack on Titan collaboration. In the latest instance, completing the lengthy string of melee kill challenges in Modern Warfare 2 awards the player with the 1000 Birds calling card. The challenge and calling card are references to the popular Naruto anime and manga franchise. More specifically, Modern Warfare 2 references the powerful elemental technique used by two of Naruto’s most popular characters....

Two judges from a smaller three-judge 9th Circuit panel ruled last year that California’s ban on magazines holding more than 10 bullets violated the constitutional right to bear arms. But according to the 9th Circuit Court’s 7-4 decision on Tuesday, the high-capacity ban doesn’t outlaw any weapons “but only limits the size of the magazine that may be used with firearms.” The majority of judges determined that “the record demonstrates that the limitation interferes only minimally with the core right of self-defense, as there is no evidence that anyone ever has been unable to defend his or her home and family due to the lack of a large-capacity magazine; and … that the limitation saves lives....

Call of Duty fans recently explored the franchise’s profile on Steam. Fans who preorder Modern Warfare 2 can play its campaign more than a week before release. MW2 officially comes out on October 28, so gamers can start playing the campaign on October 20. Austin Medford, 23, from Riverdale, California, was detained on Wednesday in Fresno by U.S. marshals from the Eastern District of California branch. Medford faces initial charges of kidnapping, car-jacking and robbery over an incident in September. He could also face charges of escape from custody in New Mexico. In November, Medford fled the Chaves County Detention Center in Roswell, New Mexico, on foot after changing from his blue scrubs into a red skirt and a dark top, while carrying a pink purse and wearing a scarf on his head....

A farmer living in Lower Lake, in Lake County, noticed the dead lambs last week and notified the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The lion had killed the livestock but had not eaten them, The Mercury News reported. An official from the department visited the farm shortly after the incident and found tracks belonging to the animal, according to local news reports. Newsweek has contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for comment....
