Some much-needed balancing changes have seen Sniper Rifles and melee weapons buffed, while Zombie health has been nerfed in the high rounds. A Dynamic Wall Buy mechanic has been added, too, with wall weapons now moving up in weapon rarity as the rounds progress. Alongside these important balancing changes, Treyarch is introducing a new Wonder Weapon, perk, and equipment piece, with more PlayStation exclusive content also on the way. For the first time in a while, the Zombies community has a lot of fresh content to dig into....

The official PC trailer shows off 4K footage of Black Ops Cold War powered by NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 30 Series. But the trailer highlighted more than the game’s graphics, as the new footage also confirmed that the FAMAS is returning to Black Ops. The rifle has become as staple in the world of Call of Duty, appearing in the first three Modern Warfare games, the original Black Ops, and Warzone....

Of course, not all these camos are easy to unlock, such as the Diamond camo. Normally, acquiring it would take players hours and hours of playtime, as they’d need to first get the Gold camo for five different weapons in the same class, although there are plenty of players who feel that the Diamond camo isn’t as lustrous as it should be and not worth the effort, especially when compared to the Dark Matter Ultra and Dark Aether camos....

One aspect of the new balancing pass that has been unanimously praised is the buffs, with the adjustments to the Milano 821 SMG in particular being received well by fans. Previously a poor choice when lined up against top tier guns like the AK-74u, the weapon had been an afterthought pre-patch. Following this update, though, the game’s community should be seeing a lot more of the Milano in online games....

The update applied tons of different changes to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War armory. Changes were made to the weapons themselves, along with several attachment changes to help the guns perform as the developers originally intended. The XM4, QBZ-83, FFAR 1, Groza, FARA 83, C58, KSP 45, and LC10 all received changes, along with the entire Assault Rifle and Pistol categories. In a “virtual briefing” with Call of Duty news site Charlie Intel, Treyarch Co-Head Dan Bunting said the team is using a new engine for Black Ops Cold War, one that “shares the ‘underlying technology’” with Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare engine, but revamped with tools Treyarch has used since Black Ops 3. The technology it uses was created in 2015, according to Bunting, and is “intended to be scalable and broad to work on future platforms” like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X....

In the breakdown for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3, Treyarch detailed the new content for Outbreak. While the new Duga region and Toxic Growth field upgrade are welcome additions, the post also hints at gameplay improvements for the mode. One of these is the ability to reach new world tiers faster, though Treyarch did not explain how to pull this off. Leaving the community to solve the mystery of speedier tier progression themselves, the speed-up process was quickly figured out by a dedicated Zombies fan....

On Monday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas and City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez spoke about the start of wildfire season and the wildfires the state is currently facing. “Fire season is here, and that means we all have a role to play,” Garcetti said at the press conference. “This year we’re seeing more of the ingredients that fuel fires, that sustain wildfires: high temperatures, dry weather, strong winds....

While players will be going back to normal leveling speeds for guns and ranks, battle passes should be progressing at incredible speed for the next seven days. Double Battle Pass XP will continue from now until December 28, ending at 10AM PT on the aforementioned date....

Even if Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is “inspired by real-life events,” it still intentionally and/or indirectly enacts efforts of historical revisionism. From as early as the game’s reveal, to Black Ops Cold War’s campaign itself, numerous narrative concepts are framed as pro-American evangelization. It’d be one thing if the game’s narrative portrayed these ideals as one perspective, but the game instead contextualizes the CIA’s actions as wholly heroic....
