Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ latest map sees an expansion of Gorod Krovi’s lockdown feature, with players needing to hold off the undead in a specific area until their forces are depleted. Mixing in the use of scorestreaks, different enemy types, and even a special boss Zombie, the new Assault Rounds set Firebase Z apart from Die Maschine and other Zombies maps. Beyond this, though, they could be expanded upon to make for a perfect secondary game mode....

Thus far, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s reference-heavy bundles have been purely movie related. The first pack was the Disavowed Assassin bundle, which served as an homage to Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films and gave the Portnova Operator The Bride’s sword and motorcycle outfit. A second pack saw one of the clowns from The Dark Knight’s bank heist scene added to the game, complete with a bag of money slung over his shoulder....

Treyarch and Activision had released a full list of all the maps that will be available of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War during its launch. Dark Aether is the Zombies equivalent of Dark Matter from multiplayer, as it serves as a reward for completing every other camo challenge available in the game. Outside of DLC additions, players must max out every weapon class, completing time consuming objectives like killing 15 special Zombies and racking up 2500 headshots. With this process required for every single gun, players will need days’ worth of in-game playtime to obtain Dark Aether....

This latest 2XP promotion is especially impactful, as it was the Doritos promotion that leaked the logo and title for Black Ops Cold War. Back when little was known about the newest CoD game, the leak from the Doritos packaging gave fans something to discuss, with the official reveal of Black Ops Cold War not coming until a few weeks later. For hardcore CoD fans, the official return of the promo and its 2XP codes will likely prove exciting....

The first reward crate Easter egg saw the Coffin Dance meme recreated inside Call of Duty Zombies, with the hilarious disco music and lights making for a moment worth seeing. The reward crate dropped by the undead dancers after their routine finished made the side quest worth doing every game, too, as players get access to JuggerNog for free as well as a top-tier weapon. With the quest being a hit with fans, players should be excited to know that Firebase Z has a reward crate quest as well....

After the announcement from the NPD Group, as reported by GameSpot, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s publisher, Activision, put out a press release that built on the analyst firm’s findings. Interestingly enough, the video game company has revealed that that Infinite Warfare is “the #1 console video game in the US, based on year-to-date revenues from physical unit sales.” Looking at the face of Activision’s statement regarding Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s top-grossing status in the US, it’s important to make a couple of distinctions....

Camping in Call of Duty has always been a hot button issue, as nothing is more frustrating than being killed by someone that has been sitting in one spot for the entirety of the match. Unfortunately, just like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019, the Modern Warfare 2 beta does little to discourage camping. While anti-camper tools like Drill Charges are terrific additions, they are not nearly enough, as the game is balanced in a way that encourages players to hold down one area and move as little as possible....

The trio of cases was first identified by the county’s Public Health department last week. On Sunday, local authorities released an initial statement notifying residents of the cases without sharing the church’s name or describing the individuals’ relationship to it. The church has since confirmed that its pastor, the Reverend Jack McMilin, had contracted the virus in a post shared to social media, according to Mendocino County. In a public message that appears in one of the congregation’s Facebook groups, McMilin’s wife said he had been hospitalized due to the respiratory illness on Sunday....

About one-third of voters have said that COVID-19 remains the biggest issue in the state, according to a California exit poll conducted for CNN and other news networks by Edison Research. In the recall fight, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s campaign has made the governor’s COVID response the center of his race. Newsom has discussed his orders mandating vaccinations or requiring testing for state workers and teachers and has warned about what could happen if the Republican party has taken control....

A total of 5.7 million Californians will be eligible for the payments, according to the governor’s office. The California Franchise Tax Board began sending out the $600 payments to qualifying residents on April 15. Those eligible for the check will receive it in the same way they receive their tax return. The timing of the payment will depend on when a qualifying resident filed a tax return, as the state must receive 2020 tax information before sending the stimulus check....

Questioned over such establishments reopening alongside other businesses getting back to work, he said: “This whole thing started in the state of California, the first community-spread, in a nail salon. I just want to remind you, remind everybody, of that.” The details of the spread’s origin had not been previously released. Newsom did not expand further on the comment or give more specific details. The bill, known as AB 32, was passed in 2019 and would have prohibited the state from entering or renewing contracts with private, for-profit prisons to incarcerate state inmates. After 2028, it would have prevented state inmates from “being incarcerated in a private, for-profit prison facility,” according to the bill’s text. The 2-1 ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law impeded the federal government’s immigration policy because the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) relies on private detention centers in California to house undocumented immigrants....

CSU, which is the largest four-year public university in the nation and has 23 campuses, posted the mandate Wednesday on its website. All those affected must receive their booster shots by February 28, although the school will accept medical and religious exemption requests. “Vaccination, including a booster when eligible, remains our most effective strategy against infection and severe disease,” said Chancellor Joseph Castro. “This is particularly important in light of the rapid rise of cases of COVID-19 throughout the state and nation as the Omicron variant spreads....

The Fullerton Police Department shared surveillance footage captured of the suspect in a break-in at Big Slice Pizza in Fullerton earlier this month. The man is seen wearing gloves and a Los Angeles Dodgers cap while stretching dough at a counter in the restaurant’s kitchen. It wasn’t immediately clear if the thief later cooked or ate the pizza, but police said he stole cash and several tablets before fleeing in the restaurant’s delivery car....

Fellows at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) told KGO-TV they believe it will cost up to $1,000 per acre to clear damaged land. An estimated 10 to 20 million acres need to be cleared. Michael Wara, a Stanford climate policy researcher, believes money spent by the state each year on firefighting could be reworked to lessen the wildfires’ devastating impact. “We spend about $2.5 billion on CAL FIRE (the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) firefighting in the State of California each year,” Wara told KGO-TV....

Wildfires have ravaged California, with many of the active fires burning in the northern part of the state, according to reports from Cal Fire. Cannabis farmers often locate in northern California because of regulations that restrict growing in low-wildfire-risk areas such as the Central Valley. More than 94 percent of legal cannabis is projected to grow in hot spots in California by the end of the century, the study published in Ecosphere last week found, and that for a variety of reasons, cannabis is “uniquely vulnerable” to wildfires....
