The “ghost boat” was first spotted last fall when the lake’s waters dropped because of the California megadrought, according to the U.S. Forest Service for the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Forestry officials have now shared dramatic photos of the vessel on the dried lake bed. The 65-pound mountain lion attacked the boy on Thursday while he was in his front yard, wounding his head, neck and upper torso, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. After the boy’s mother “fended off the lion by striking it multiple times,” the boy was transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition, the department stated. Alonso Calle, 32, was arrested after Fontana Police received a report that a woman had been raped by her driver on January 12 after she had ordered a lift back to her home. The victim had been drinking with friends on the night in question and had either fallen asleep or passed out after getting into Calle’s vehicle. Yaneth Lopez Valladares was working at the Del Rey Packing plant in Sanger, near Fresno, according to the county sheriff’s office. She had worked at the company for two years before the incident on Friday, CNN reported. The woman was a contract worker for the firm. The woman was “severely injured” when her clothing became stuck in the machine used for processing raisins.
